Pre and Post Care Guidelines for Advanced Facial Treatments
Pre-Treatment Guidelines
To prepare your skin and minimise sensitivity or irritation before your facial treatment:
- Avoid retinol/retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliating acids and physical scrubs for 5–7 days before treatment.
- Avoid waxing, threading, depilatory creams or other irritating treatments on the area for 5–7 days.
- Avoid sun exposure for at least 1 week before treatment and apply at least SPF 30 daily.
- Do not attend with sunburnt, broken, irritated or actively inflamed skin.
- Avoid other intensive facial, resurfacing or exfoliating treatments close to your appointment.
- Keep your skin well hydrated and use SPF daily.
- Please inform us of any changes to your health, medication, allergies, pregnancy/breastfeeding status or skin conditions before treatment.
- If you are prone to cold sores, please inform us before your appointment.
Post-treatment guidelines
Following your treatment, mild redness, warmth, tightness, sensitivity, dryness or flaking may occur depending on the facial performed.
- Avoid retinol/retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliating acids and scrubs for 5–7 days, or until the skin has fully settled.
- Use gentle, hydrating skincare and avoid potentially irritating products.
- Avoid makeup for approximately 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, swimming, saunas, steam rooms and excessive heat for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid waxing, threading and further exfoliating or resurfacing treatments until the skin has recovered.
- Do not pick, peel or exfoliate any dryness or flaking — allow the skin to shed naturally.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks following treatment.
- Apply SPF 30–50 every day and take extra care with sun protection following treatment.
- Contact the clinic if you experience any unexpected or prolonged reaction.
